You also need a Scyther, and this needs to learn False Swipe. You can put both of these into Day-Care, but be careful that you do not lose any other skills that you want to keep. L18 to L20 is what you need to look out for. When you have these, Put Gastly at the top, and use Mean Look when your target Pokemon appears (e.g. Miltank on Route 38). The Pokemon can't leave now, and use Hypnosis to put it to sleep. Scyther's False Swipe skill always leaves just 1HP behind, rather than making the other Pokemon faint. Now just throw those Poke Balls! Sun Stone : When you have this, the first prize in the Bug Catching Contest, use it to evolve Gloom or Sunkern. Catch Lugia & Ho-Oh : When you encounter Lugia and Ho-Oh, save the game before battling them, as you only get one chance to catch them. Clone Pokemon and items : Give an item that you want to clone to the Pokemon that you want to clone, and save the game by a PC. Store the Pokemon on PC, and select Change Box. When you get the "Saving..." message, switch the Gameboy Off. Switch the Gameboy On, and you'll have the Pokemon both in your lineup, and on the PC. N.B. This may mess up your save file, so use it carefully. Red Scale : You get the scale after you catch/defeat the red Gyarados. Give it to Mr Pokemon to get Exp Share. Give it to a Pokemon in your squad, and it shares the Experience Points with any Pokemon that are in battle. Bill's Cottage : Speak to the old guy, and he will ask to see a certain Pokemon, and will give you a Stone - Lickitung : Everstone Growlithe or Vulpix : Fire Stone Oddish : Leaf Stone Staryu : Water Stone Pichu : Thunder Stone Evolving Tyrogue : When you get it, it evolves at around L20. What it evolves into depends on how its Attack and Defense ratings relate to each other.
